THE HELPER & THE STUDENT

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1John 4:4

Jesus is looking for disciples that will heed His heads up. He wants us to be His followers. He’s looking for people who want to be all in. It’s not just about going to the church building, it’s also about living out our faith.  No, we cannot do this by ourselves and He does not expect us to. In college, there are tutors on board that offer help to the students. Similarly, Jesus gives us help through the power of Holy Spirit. We don’t have to do this alone! Holy Spirit gives us strength when we are weak. He encourages us when we are discouraged. He restores our joy. He also corrects us when we need to be corrected. Nothing in this life will be able to knock God’s Word out of us, because greater is He who lives in us than he who lives in the world.

The help of Holy Spirit is available to us, but we must decide on how we are going to respond. For example, there are some college students who take advantage of the tutors. Some study what the professor tells them to. You can tell who they are because they are the ones who end up passing the test and graduating. We too can be like that. Let’s not just call ourselves Christian, let’s be about it! We can let the Bible be the standard of what we believe and how we should live. When it comes time for graduation day, those who take advantage of the tutors, study the text, and heed the warning of Jesus, will hear “well done my good and faithful servant”. They will graduate. Praise His holy name!

Questions: What are some signs indicating that you may be living your life on your own, apart from the help of Holy Spirit? What are signs indicating that you are living your life leaning on His help and power?

Prayer: Lord, it is in our weakness that your strength is made perfect. We thank you for your grace and mercy. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
