WORSHIP IS THE TOP PRIORITY

Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman; the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.  You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews.  But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.  For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”  John 4:21-24

Did you know that the first thing that Christians do when they get to heaven is worship. That’s right, they worship. This must mean that worship is important to God. The Father demands worship, Jesus demands worship, and the devil wants your worship too.  Since, worship is important to our Heavenly Father, it should be important to His children also.  Priority numero Uno! That was the message to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well, over 2000years ago, and it is still the message for us today.

This is a time to worship without walls! You do not need a church building to worship. This is the point Jesus was making when He spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well. He also told her that she needed to know who she worships. Worship is not based on who you think God is, it’s based on who He really is. True worship flows from an intimate knowledge of God, it’s a byproduct of a relationship with the living One, the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is not based on emotions either. The Holy Spirit must lead you to truly worship God. Since God is a spirit, those who worship Him must be led by The Spirit. That is what true worship looks like. God is looking for individuals to worship Him in spirit and truth. That is what we learn from the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman, and that is what we learn from the book of Revelation.

Questions: In what ways has your knowledge of God led you into a worship experience? Do you find yourself conserving worship just for Sunday services?

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we ask you for a revelation of Jesus Christ. Lead us into an intimate knowledge of You so we can offer you true worship. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
