THE ROCKY HEARTED

“The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don't have deep roots, they don't last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.”

Luke 4:16-17

Jesus explained the mystery of the church in His Kingdom parables, which are recorded in Matthew 13. These parables are prophecies with hidden meaning. They reveal to believers how the world will be in the last days, and it is through the eyes of the church. That’s right. The only way to truly know what is going on in the world today, you must look through the eyes of the church. The church is God’s primary way of dealing with the world. So, with aid from the Holy Spirit, these parables will help you see what God is doing in front of you, hear what God is saying, so you will know what to do.

One thing to remember is that faith is always a matter of the heart, and the target of God’s will and Word. The parable of the sower teaches us that God’s will and Word is not received by majority of people.  Most people in the world do not believe the good news. For instance, Jesus used the parable to compare people’s heart to soil that is shallow and filled with stones. As a result of people having a heart of rocks, God’s Word is blocked and unable to get deeply rooted. These types of people get excited about God but quit at the first sign of trouble. They may be at church one week but gone the moment something gets inconvenient. They are religious, but only attend church services for the show, but they are not real Christians.

You see friends, Jesus said that we will experience trouble in this life. There is no doubt about it. The moment you gave your life to Jesus the devil puts a target on your back. Also, there are some sacrifices that you must be willing to make. The road to heaven is narrow and difficult. We must not be shallow hearted but instead put our trust in Jesus and be willing to go all the way. Amen?

The parable of the sower contains symbols and Jesus taught His disciples what they meant. When you put all the symbols together with their meaning, this is the picture painted about the character of the Church Age. You must see it through the eyes of the church. Get this in your spirit; not everybody talking about heaven is going there. Not everyone, even in the organized church, has Jesus living in them. The parable of the sower illustrates that in the last days most people hearts will not be a welcoming home for Jesus. What about you, is he welcome?

Questions: How do you respond to God when you are going through some trials or called to make sacrifices for Jesus your Lord?

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, we cannot do anything without your help. So, we confess and ask for you to strengthen us in our weaknesses. Thank you that your grace is sufficient. In Jesus’ name we pray Amen.
