THE TRUE CHURCH
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
John 15:1-4
Friends, God judges your life through the eyes of the church. Let me tell you why. The relationship between Jesus and his followers is just like a vine’s relationship with its branches. You see, Jesus is the true vine, planted by God the Father in this world. Followers of Jesus are like branches that produce fruit after receiving nourishment from Jesus. The life of Jesus flows through the believer by the ministry of the Holy Spirit who lives in a Christian's heart. Therefore, if you are properly connected to Jesus by faith, you will produce fruit that comes from His Spirit who lives in you! Unbelievers cannot produce fruit that comes from God’s Spirit, because Jesus’ spirit doesn't live in them. That is why God judges people in the world through the eyes of the church. You are either in the world or in the church, but you can't be in both.
Question: Does your life show evidence that God’s Spirit lives in you?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, draw us closer to your Son so that we can share in Your holiness, In Jesus Name, AMEN.
