GOD HOLDS THE FUTURE
"Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the Lord and his Anointed One: "Lets tear off their chains and throw their ropes off of us."
The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them. Then he speaks to them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath: "I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
Psalms 2:2-6
Many people today falsely believe that they can control the future. Some think they can exercise this control through science and technology. However, they are wrong. Truth be told, God is the only one who controls the future. That’s what an angel showed the apostle John in the Book of Revelation. Friends, no matter what people try to do, this drama ends with the judgement of this world. Sinners will be punished and the righteous will be saved. There is no way around it!
Just like a play is scripted from the beginning to the end, God has scripted everything in the world. He has it all under control. He alone knows how it all plays out, from start to finish. No one else can show you the future and how the world comes to an end. The best that people can do is make predictions. God, on the other hand, makes promises. Do not be fooled by what you hear. God is the only one who controls the future. In the end, the individuals who put their faith in the false systems of this world will be disappointed. So, don’t follow them. Amen!
Question: In what ways do you see people trying to control the future? How does this make you feel? What are some areas in your life that you need to relinquish to God and allow Him to take control? Pray about it.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, no matter what people do or say, you are in control. Nothing is new under the sun. People have been trying to control the future and live independent from you from the beginning. Just like the tower of Babel, you threw those into confusion, because only You are King. Thanks for showing us the Revelation of Jesus Christ. We know that you hold the future. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!
