IN HIS HANDS

Write, then, the things you see, both the things that are now and the things that will happen afterward. Here is the secret meaning of the seven stars that you see in my right hand, and of the seven gold lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. Revelation 1:19-20

In Act 1, in God’s drama called Revelation, John testified that he saw Jesus in His full glory. John described that Jesus was shining radiant as the sun. He goes further to state that Jesus was standing in the middle of seven golden candle stands and holding stars in His right hand. Jesus later explained to John that the seven golden candle stands and the seven stars represented the churches and its leaders in Asia. The prophetic meaning of this vision is that Jesus has the church in His hands. He was standing amongst the churches, and knew all about the churches' business. He knew what they did well and what they did not do so well. Jesus showed John that He was in control and that He sees everything.

That is good news for us today because the church and its leaders are still under Jesus’ control. We need to wake up and recognize that Jesus has not lost His grip. Christians do not need to worry and fret because the church is in Jesus’ grasp. What more can we ask for? However, Christians also need to know that we cannot live any type of way. Jesus will get in our business. He is still walking among the churches and He still sees everything. Jesus will get up in our homes and personal life and give you a reminder of who you are and how you should live. That is good news because He does not leave us alone.

In addition we do not need to try to save the church either. Nor do we need to run it like we feel it should be running. Christians just need to understand that they are servants of the Most High God and serve Him with a spirit of humility. However, you have to be in God’s theater. You have to be born again to hear this message from the Holy Spirit. He is the one who presents the greatest show on earth to the children of God, as we are on the way to the promised coming kingdom.

Questions: Do you see that Jesus has all power?  Can you see, like John, that Jesus has you in His hands, the church, its leaders, your family, all in His hands?  In what ways does that change your thinking?

Prayer: Lord, we trust in You. We know that You have us in Your hands; therefore we know that we are in the best hands. Amen.
