Clothed in Majesty: The Reign of the True King

Behold the True King!
When we think about kings, we picture a throne, royal robes, and people bowing before their ruler. Unfortunately, earthly kings often become corrupt, using their power to victimize the very people they’re supposed to govern. BUT NOT OUR KING! Our God reigns in absolute majesty, and His throne is established from everlasting. No government can remove Him, no demon can challenge His authority, and no changing culture can diminish His glory!
Psalm 104 describes God covering Himself with light like a garment. Have you ever tried looking directly at the sun? You can’t do it! Now imagine the glory of the God who CREATED the sun! And in 2 Peter 1:16, Peter tells us that he was an eyewitness of that majesty revealed in Jesus Christ. The King is real, His glory is real, and His coming Kingdom is real!
Peter, James, and John witnessed Jesus transfigured before them on a mountain. The glory that had been concealed in His humanity was revealed, and they saw a glimpse of the splendor of the Son of God. On that mountain, they saw His MAJESTY! Here’s the wonderful truth: The same Jesus who revealed His glory on that mountain is coming again to reign over this world! The King is coming, my friends, AND I WANT TO BE READY WHEN HE COMES!
Who Rules Your Heart?
Here’s what I want you to understand, my friends: Heaven is our blueprint! When Jesus returns, He will establish His promised Kingdom on earth. But we’re supposed to be reflecting heaven’s order RIGHT NOW! Our worship, obedience, relationships, and priorities should demonstrate that we belong to the King of Kings.
Yet too many of us give our allegiance to things that have no real power. Money, politics, relationships, personal ambitions, and even our own opinions can become idols when we put them before God. Psalm 96:5 reminds us that the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. IF YOU SERVE AN IDOL, YOU HAVE TO CARRY IT. BUT IF YOU SERVE THE TRUE GOD, HE CARRIES YOU!
Practice for Eternity!
Did you know that everything we do as believers should be preparing us for eternity? We’re practicing NOW for the Kingdom that’s coming! This includes an internal reset-trusting His majesty instead of trying to control everything; a vocal reset-singing His praises instead of allowing the world’s problems to determine your attitude; and an external reset-telling somebody about His goodness instead of joining the conversations of fear and despair.
Psalm 2 declares that God has already established His King. The nations may rage, and the world may mock Him, but Jesus Christ is coming to make everything right! Until then, we need to live as citizens of His coming Kingdom.
So let me ask you: Who’s sitting on the throne of YOUR heart? If you don’t know Jesus, come to Him today. And if you belong to Him, let Him rule your life!
