MAN DOWN!
“When I saw him, I fell down at his feet like a dead man. He placed his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the first and the last.”
Revelation 1:17
“The fear of the Lord, is the beginning of wisdom,” Proverbs 9:10a. One has not truly met the Lord Jesus Christ, if he or she does not have a healthy fear of Him. You have not been born again if you believe that you can say anything, do anything, and are not afraid of anything. You have not entered into His presence if you have remained the same person afterwards. He is just too awesome. When John saw King Jesus in His full glory, he was afraid. He stated that he fell down at the feet of Jesus like a dead man. John fainted, wilted, and could not handle it, while standing in the presence of the almighty God. John was marveled. He was reverent, and dead in the flesh. Jesus’ presence alone will knock you down like a dead man, but He will not let you stay down. He will also lift you up. Praise His Holy Name!
One cannot expect to come into the presence of God and receive anything from Him, while you are alive in your flesh. You cannot have a mindset that it is all about you. Having a bad attitude, and not have a spirit of gratitude. That is one of the problems of the modern-day church. Too many people think it is all about them. People are too alive in the flesh. It is all about their program. They tell Jesus what to do, tell the Bible what to do, and the preacher what to do. Then, one wonders why there is no power and sense of awe in the church. Your flesh has to die when you are standing in the presence of His divinity. He is the one calling the shots. When John saw Jesus, his flesh just wilted. John could not help but to bow. However, Jesus did not leave John down but lifted John up. Next, Jesus spoke to him. When you bow to the Lord, he will lift you up. In contrast, if you lift yourself up, He will make you bow in Judgement. I do not know about you, but I would rather bow now, than be made to bow later.
Questions: How does this help you with your mindset towards worship service? During worship service, do you find yourself more speechless and in awe in the presence of Jesus, or more alive and blocked by the flesh?
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we ask you to forgive us for our sins. Forgive us if we ever approached times of worship in pride, complaining, and in our flesh. You are worthy to be praised, anywhere and all the time, because you are better than good. Help us see you in your glory, that we may bow at your feet in reverence. In Your precious name we pray, Amen.
