SECRETS ARE FOR FRIENDS AND NOT FOR ENEMIES
“The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.” Matthew 13:10-13
If you are shocked so far about the kingdom secrets, you are in good company. The disciples were shocked when Jesus started talking in riddles. They asked Him why he was teaching about the coming kingdom in that way. The reason Jesus started teaching and preaching to the crowds by using parables, was because they really were not trying to listen to what He had to say in the first place. Here is a question: What would you do if you were trying to talk to someone and everything you said went in one ear and out the other? Wouldn’t you stop talking? Most of us have been there at some point. Truth be told, some people just don’t want to hear what you have to say. Even if it is important. They are just hardheaded, knuckleheads, and that the truth. People were also “dull of hearting” in Jesus’ day. You see, that is why many people are lost. If you don’t want to hear what Jesus has to say, then guess what? You don’t have to listen, and the Lord won’t waste his breath on you forever. It’s just that simple. People that keep refusing to hear the Gospel of the Kingdom, eventually lose the opportunity to receive the grace that save through faith in Jesus Christ. Think about it.
Many people listen to and follow celebrities in the world and church, paying attention to everything they say and do. But how many Christians have no idea what Jesus and the Bible are all about? The bible is a code they cannot crack because they want religious services but don’t want to do what Jesus says. You are not getting anything out of your preacher’s sermons and bible teachers lessons if you have already decided what you want to hear. Stop listening to what everyone else is saying and start listening to what the Lord Jesus is saying to you. People that choose not to listen to the Lord God have eyes that do not see, and ears that do not hear. Some people just don’t believe and are stubborn. Friends, pay attention when God is speaking, and He will give you understanding. Yes, there are kingdom secrets, but don’t be one of those people that Jesus must keep the Kingdom secrets from you. Amen!
Questions: Who are you listening too? Do you want to hear from Jesus? Does the bible speak to you? Do you hear Jesus talking to you through his servants? If not, Why? What has the devil used to close your eyes and ears to the Lord’s voice? How can you be delivered?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for all the times I have ignored your word. I confess that I need to listen to you more. Forgive me for treating you and your servants with contempt when you try to speak to me. Open my heart to listen when you speak. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.
