THE PURE IN HEART
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8
When Jesus measures a person, he looks at their heart, not at their waist. The heart is the way the bible talks about the real you. When we talk about the heart, we are talking about the whole person: body, spirit, and soul. The “pure in heart,” is a metaphor used to describe people that are redeemed through faith in Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world, He became an organ donor. He gave His clean heart in exchange for our sinful dirty hearts. Jesus knew we needed a transplant. When you choose to put your faith in Jesus, you sign up to be on the transplant list. When you accept Him, by believing He died on the cross for your sins, and got up from the dead, you accept His heart. He then gives you eternal life.
People who are in critical condition are in need of a heart transplant because they are just about to die. Jesus saw that all of us were at death’s eternal door, so He became an organ donor and gave His life on the cross. Christians now have Jesus’ heart beating inside them which is the only way to enter into His kingdom. You have to have His heart. Because His heart beats in Christians, they become more like Him every day. The redeemed must go through this process to get a clean heart in order to enter into His kingdom.
That is what Jesus was talking about when He said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” He was not saying that you will have a single experience of God and then you will know that He is real. He is saying that God will constantly manifest Himself to you as you become more like Christ. In other words, the more you practice your Christianity, the more God will show Himself in the everyday situations that you find yourself in. He will walk with you and talk with you. We live in a corrupt world that demands us to follow their destructive path. They even ridicule us for our faith. However, none of those things even matter for the pure in heart, because they see God working in their life. They see God rocking their world!
Questions: Do you have the heart of Christ beating in you?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly, we ask for a pure heart. We recognize that we need a heart transplant and we thank you that You for working inside of us. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness, in Jesus name, Amen.
