ACT1: JESUS IS CENTER STAGE
“On the Lord's Day the Spirit took control of me, and I heard a loud voice, that sounded like a trumpet, speaking behind me. It said, “Write down what you see, and send the book to the churches in these seven cities: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.” I turned around to see who was talking to me, and I saw seven gold lampstands, and among them there was what looked like a human being, wearing a robe that reached to his feet, and a gold band around his chest. His hair was white as wool, or as snow, and his eyes blazed like fire; his feet shone like brass that has been refined and polished, and his voice sounded like a roaring waterfall. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came out of his mouth. His face was as bright as the midday sun.” Revelation 1:10-16
The book of Revelation, which is God’s prophetic drama, is composed of four main acts of God. Each of these acts or scenes is introduced when John says that he, “was in the Spirit”. Act 1 is presented to us in the first three chapters of the book. The theme of the first act is that Jesus is center stage and He is the star of the show. In the beginning of Act 1 John said that he was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day. John heard a loud voice behind him, sounding like a trumpet. When John turned to see who was talking to him he saw that it was Jesus. The first thing that John saw was Jesus in His full glory. John opened up the first act wanting us to know what he witnessed. He was caught up into heaven and saw that Jesus was center stage. Jesus was the star of God’s show.
Believers should not take the revelation of Jesus Christ lightly. In John’s vision the glory of Jesus Christ was revealed. John saw Jesus properly. Who Jesus is was shown to John when the curtain of heaven was pulled back. John saw Jesus in charge. He was ruling the world from His throne. Jesus is king. John saw Jesus radiant and majestic. Jesus was center stage and that stage was not shared by anyone else. Jesus was standing center amongst the churches. He knew all about the people’s business. If that is true in heaven, should not Jesus be center stage in every believer’s heart also? Think about it.
Questions: Is Jesus the star in your heart? What are some ways that you make the show about anyone else, other than Jesus?
Prayer: Lord, You are in charge in Heaven and on earth. Just because we may not see it down here, that does not make it untrue. People may think that they are running the show, but we know that this is not true. Remind us who is in charge, when we try to make the show about us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
