Many people believe that when they accept Christ into their lives, there will be no more pain and suffering. Christians who have lived long enough know this is not the case. Christians experience pain and suffering in this life just like everyone else. In fact, the word “mourn” used in Matthew 5:3, is a word used to describe an overwhelming grief. It is a deep sorrow which is usually associated with the severe loss of a loved one. It is a pain that runs deep and a hurt that only God can heal. God promises His kingdom people, that they will be comforted in their pain, their trials, their grief. With God, even those who are in pain can experience kingdom happiness.

For those who are in God’s kingdom, He promises to comfort those who are mourning. Kingdom citizens have Holy Spirit living in them. He does the comforting inside the heart of those who may be grieving. He operates like Jesus, but without a body. He lives on the inside of believers, giving them what they need to overcome sorrow. He is a friend who calls or visits you when you are going through the tough times. Usually, just the presence of a friend is all a person needs; it’s comforting to know that you are not alone. Holy Spirit helps you carry the burden. In our weakness, His strength is made perfect! You can’t find comfort  in this world; you can only get it in God’s kingdom. You don’t need to go through trials and suffering by yourself because, God doesn’t want you to.
