TROUBLE FOR YOUR TESTIMONY
“I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus.” Revelation 1:9
Jesus wants you to see Him for who he really is, not how the world projects, nor whom you may perceive Him to be. When you meet the real Jesus He becomes Lord of your life, plus you will become a child of the Kingdom, and you are going suffer for that. The Apostle John knows all about suffering. His testimony of suffering has some credibility, because he was imprisoned for preaching the word of God. Being mistreated comes with witnessing for Jesus. His children suffer just like he suffered. John wrote this letter to people who he called his partners of affliction. Not only was he suffering for knowing Jesus, but others were too. Saints, there is no way around it; suffering for knowing Jesus comes with the territory. Real believers know that you will always receive trouble for your testimony.
Jesus does not sugar coat the truth. He lets us know that since the world rejects Him, the world will reject His followers too. The Emperor of Rome exiled John to a concentration camp of forced labor, because he would not stop preaching what Jesus told him to preach. He couldn’t shut up about Jesus! You see, Christians make the world look bad, because we are the light of the world. Nobody, who loves to practice darkness, likes to hear the truth about sin and judgement. Here is a question: If you aren’t suffering for your faith, are you really witnessing? John’s letter was written to other believers who were relating to the trouble that John was experiencing. In reality, God allows us to go through some stuff at times. That’s not a popular thing to talk about, but that is our certainty. We do have hope though, Jesus told us to be of good cheer for he has overcome the world. Family, stay encouraged and worship the true Jesus. He will give you the strength to stand firm in the trouble you’re in. Yes He will!

Prayer: Lord, we know that when we abide in You, we will definitely receive trouble. You told us that. However, you also told us to be of good cheer for you already conquered the world. We thank you and ask for help during our trouble for our testimony. Help us to be bold and share what you want us to share. Open our eyes to the true You. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
