MEEKNESS ISN’T WEAKNESS
“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5 The root word for “meekness” is a hard word to interpret. It is not defined as being weak, like some may think. It is actually quite the opposite. It is really referred to as a strength that is restrained. It is a power that is subjected to discipline. Jesus taught that meek individuals are happy individuals and that they can be trusted with more. Some people chase after happiness by throwing their weight around to get what they want. They think that happiness can be achieved [...]
THE PROMISE OF COMFORT
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;” John 14:16 “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted,” Matthew 5:4. Many people believe that when they accept Christ into their lives, there will be no more pain and suffering. Christians who have lived long enough know this is not the case. Christians experience pain and suffering in this life just like everyone else. In fact, the word “mourn” used in Matthew 5:3, is a word used to describe an overwhelming grief. It is a [...]
BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT
“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3 There was a simple man who watched his new neighbor move in next door. The man observed all kinds of modern gadgets, pricey furniture, expensive art, fancy clothes, and imported cars being put into their proper places. Then, the onlooker called over and said, “Hey neighbor, if you find yourself lacking anything, let me know, and I will show you how to live without it!” That is good advice! When the Bible mentions the word blessed, God is referring to is true happiness. God [...]
GOD WANTS YOU TO BE HAPPY!
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 Many people are like the man who shouted up a mountain, “What is the secret to happiness?" The answer came back, “God.” The man did not like that answer, so he shouted, “Is there anyone else up there that I can talk to?” Do you know that God wants you to be happy? There are so many people in the world who think the exact opposite. You do not know God very well if you think He doesn’t [...]
LOOKING IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES
“I turned around to see who was talking to me” Revelation 1:12 During John’s worship experience, he reported that he heard a voice behind him and he had to turn around to see who was talking to him. Get this; John had to turn to see Jesus. This means that he had to turn from where he was looking; he was looking in a different direction. John had to turn away from what he was thinking and what he was doing, in order to see the true Jesus. When it comes to worship, too many people are looking in [...]
SPIRIT LED WORSHIP
It was the Lord’s Day, and I was worshiping in the Spirit. Suddenly, I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet blast. It said, “Write in a book everything you see, and send it to the seven churches in the cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.” Revelation 1:10-11 When you meet Jesus and truly get to know Him, you will worship Him. You will worship in spirit and in truth, just like we see in John’s testimony. You see friends, even though John was in prison for his witness, he still worshiped the [...]
